Higher education organizations can lose control of spending across the purchasing, procurement, and payment processes in many ways. These include maverick spending, off-contract or out-of-budget purchasing, high costs, and lost payment discounts due to manual, paper-based processes, and more.

Significant savings can be achieved by deploying the proper tools and processes to manage spending. However, just as different forms of overspending can be challenging to identify, it’s tricky to predict the savings you can drive through improved spend management practices.

Unimarket has developed Education Industry Spend Management (EI:SM) to help higher education institutions better understand the positive financial impact of aligning spend management practices across the institution. The focus is on identifying and tracking cost savings and other forms of value creation.

Many smaller colleges and universities have considered spend management automation unattainable, but UNYCC members Alfred University, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, and St. John Fisher University have made it happen.   Join us to learn how they did it and the impact each institution has seen.

Attendees will Learn:

  • Four key financial metrics to gauge the health of your spend management practices
  • Spend optimization strategies
  • Actionable ideas to improve procurement and accounts payable operations
  • Common sense ideas to reduce risk and institutional liability

Presenters:

  • Darren Blakely, Executive Vice President, Unimarket
  • Melissa Badeau, MPS, MSED, Dir. of Procurement Services, Alfred University
  • Claudette Stern, Dir. of Budget & Admin. Services, Hobart & William Smith Colleges
  • Marcie Nicastro, Dir. of Procurement, St. John Fisher College
